Seven Deadly Sins of Economic Development

The Seven Deadly Sins of Economic Development

Maury Forman has posted a stimulating article about the need to address important economic development issues, which was a top category of interest in SPEAKingston’s first survey of community leader priorities. The “sins” Forman identifies include:

  • Outmigration of Youth

  • Neglect of Infrastructure

  • Lack of Workforce Collaboration

  • Bias Towards Business Incentives

  • Ignoring the Creative Industry

  • Neglect of Downtown

  • Uneducated Legislators

Our community does well on some of these challenges; in other areas, not so much.
